Why We're Different

Built for parents.
Not students.

Every other college tool is designed for 17-year-olds obsessing over rankings. We're built for the person writing the checks — and asking the hard questions about value.

💬
Plain English, not jargon

We translate "Expected Family Contribution" and "Cost of Attendance" into what you actually need to know: what will I write a check for?

💰
Money first, rankings second

Prestige is secondary to financial fit. We show net price, grad debt, and ROI metrics front and center — not buried in footnotes.

🔍
No sponsored results

College Board and Niche earn money from colleges. We don't. Our data comes from federal databases — not from schools paying to look better.

What parents are saying

From the parents who found it first.

★★★★★

I had spent weeks on 8 different websites trying to figure out what UF would actually cost us. I got the answer in 3 minutes with CollegeCompass. The net price breakdown is exactly what I needed.

The deadline tracker alone is worth it. My daughter applied to 9 schools and I was terrified of missing an EA date. Having it all in one place, sorted by urgency, was a huge relief.

★★★★★

What I love is that it's clearly built for parents, not my teenager. The way it explains costs and financial aid is how I think — not how admissions offices talk. Finally something that makes sense.

Questions

Common questions

All data is sourced from federal databases — IPEDS, College Scorecard, and the Common Data Set — which colleges are required to submit accurate data to. We do not accept payment from colleges to feature them, and we don't use self-reported marketing data.
College Board and Niche earn revenue from colleges paying for placement and advertising. Their data and rankings can be influenced by financial relationships. CollegeCompass earns revenue only from subscribers — which means our only incentive is to be genuinely useful to parents.
Yes. The dashboard is free to explore — you can search colleges and see basic data (name, state, accept rate, tuition) without a subscription. A subscription unlocks full profiles, the compare tool, cost calculator, deadline tracker, My List, and the AI Advisor.
The AI is powered by the same data in our database — acceptance rates, costs, and deadlines from federal sources. It's very accurate for the factual data in our system. For nuanced questions like "should my kid apply ED?", it gives informed guidance but we always recommend verifying important decisions with your student's school counselor.
Yes, absolutely. Monthly plans can be cancelled at any time with no penalty. Annual plans can be cancelled and you won't be charged for the next year. We don't believe in making cancellation difficult.
Our database covers 950 four-year colleges including all major universities, Ivy League schools, state flagships, and most schools families commonly consider. If a school your child is interested in isn't listed, you can still use the AI Advisor to ask questions about it — the AI has broader knowledge beyond our structured database.
